iPod won’t digest the avi (Audio Video Interleaved) video file you have made. The reason is that as far as video is concerned, the iPod can deal only with the MPEG-4 (Moving Picture Experts Group ) and H.264 video formats.
Therefore, you’ll need to convert you home video to one of those formats using some sort of video converting software, and then synchronize your converted video into the iPod using the iTunes interface.
